An Engraved Invitation for Boy Bloggers Attending Netroots Nation

"Boy Bloggers" is a term I hear from the women I work with and chuckle when I do, but the women are right. Guys, if you're at Netroots Nation, do yourself a favor and don't overlook Rewire's Saturday panel.

Some of my favorite people are in Austin for Netroots Nation, and they will be speaking on a panel Saturday that some "boy bloggers" might overlook. For that reason, Rewire is extending this personalized, engraved (use your imagination) invitation.

You are cordially invited to increase your understanding of what your wives, girlfriends, sisters, colleagues, nieces, and every other woman you know already does — and learn how to be far better at discussing it with them, and in your own political writing.

Sat, 07/19/2008 – 3:00pm, Ballroom G

This
session aims to share tactics that broaden the discussion of sexual and
reproductive health issues both in the progressive blogosphere and in
the mainstream media. In order to better connect feminist bloggers and
reproductive health advocates to the media, panelists will discuss
fresh, more accurate and comprehensive frames through which to report
reproductive rights news, including incorporating voices of women of
color, men, mothers and LGBT individuals. Participants will brainstorm
useful communications mechanisms for bloggers and writers reporting on
reproductive rights, and connect those bloggers to the policy and
demographic research produced by reproductive rights organizations.

Guys, there are about a thousand reasons why you should attend this session politically, but the best is engaging some of the smartest women (panel and audience) and talking about issues we all need to be more passionate about. I have the good fortune of working with these women consistently, you really don’t want to miss out.

You might just learn something that will make you a little less reluctant to discuss these very important and fundamental sexual and reproductive health issues.
