Miriam Zoila Pérez is a 24-year-old North Carolina native whose upbringing in a Cuban immigrant household was pretty far from Southern. A graduate of Swarthmore College, Miriam has been working in the reproductive justice movement for over five years, both online and off. Miriam has worked as an advocate for Latina women in various capacities. She has been a case manager assisting pregnant immigrants, as well as a reproductive justice organizer with the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health. Miriam is also a trained doula and has worked in the United States and in Ecuador providing labor support to Latina women. Miriam is the sole blogger and founder of Radicaldoula.com. She is also an editor at the popular and widely read blog Feministing.com. Her writing has appeared in Bitch Magazine, The Nation, RH Reality Check and Alternet. Most recently Miriam's work has been published in Yes Means Yes: Visions of Female Sexual Power and a World without Rape and Sinister Wisdom: Latina Lesbians. Miriam is on the Board of Directors of the Sistersong Women of Color Reproductive Health Collective and the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice.
