Kelly Cleland is on research staff at the Office of Population Research at Princeton University, where her work focuses on contraception and abortion. Kelly also serves as Executive Director of the American Society for Emergency Contraception, which promotes awareness and resource-sharing around EC. Kelly received her MPA and MPH from Columbia University.

When you open up the box for your medication and unfold the package insert it all looks so...scientific. All of those chemistry diagrams, tables and warnings. You'd assume that labels for FDA-approved medications must be accurate and up to date, right? Think again.

To the FDA, the evidence is clear: Plan B is safe for women of all ages. Yet in a dangerous precedent, the Secretary overturned the decision based on pseudo-scientific concerns about misuse among younger adolescents.
