John Tomasic is state editor at the Colorado Independent. Most recently, he was an editor at OffTheBus, the Huffington Post citizen journalism project on the 2008 presidential campaigns and at Pop and Politics, the USC Annenberg School's new-media training program and website. Before attending graduate school in history and art history, he was an analyst and editor for the UN commission established to investigate war crimes committed in the former Yugoslavia.

Human rights advocates stated that a pledge signed last Friday by religious leaders that they won’t abide by laws supporting gay marriage or abortion "perpetuates the fallacy that equality and religious liberty are incompatible and that civil rights are another burden on religious people."

Catholic Pastors Directed to Distribute Anti-Health Reform Materials at Mass

This past weekend the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops instructed pastors at parishes across the country to distribute material urging Catholics to oppose the health reform bills they say allow public funding for abortion.
