Gauri van Gulik
Gauri van Gulik is a women’s rights advocate and researcher for Human Rights Watch. Van Gulik specializes in reproductive health, women migrants and domestic violence. She formerly worked for Marie Stopes International (where she was the European Advocacy Officer), the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims and the Civil Liberties Committee in the European Parliament. Van Gulik holds a BA and MA in European and Comparative Law and an MA in human rights from the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation in Venice.
South Africa: Leadership on Abortion and Women's Health and Rights

South Africa has already set an example for the world by enacting a law that protects women’s rights, including their right to terminate a pregnancy. It now needs to make sure that women and girls can access these services, that they have information about their rights, and that they have access to other reproductive health care, such as family planning.
