About Me
Debra Hauser is Executive Vice President of Advocates for Youth, an international nonprofit organization that works in the United States and in developing countries to create programs and advocate for policies that improve the reproductive and sexual health of young people. Ms Hauser has been with the organization for the past 16 years and has been actively involved in the field of adolescent sexual health for over 25 years. She is an expert consultant on the prevention of adolescent pregnancy, HIV and other STDs, sex education, contraceptive access, and organizational development. Ms Hauser is the author of numerous publications on school-based health clinics, abstinence-only education, teenage pregnancy prevention, and science-based adolescent sexual health programming. She holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of Michigan. Prior to coming to Advocates, Ms. Hauser taught sex education for seven years in Atlantic City’s public schools, served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay, and was founder and co-owner of CondomRageous, a condom retail store in Georgetown.
