Name: Catherine A. Traywick

Catherine Traywick is an Arizona-based journalist who covers issues ranging from gender equality and race relations to immigration and reproductive health. She has written for Ms. Magazine, Hyphen Magazine, and several regional publications. Prior to joining The Media Consortium, she spent several months studying organizing tactics among prominent pro-immigration groups in Phoenix, followed by two months studying the social impacts of U.S. counterinsurgency efforts in the Philippines.

Catherine's non-profit experience includes work with the National Labor Committee, the North American Center for Transborder Studies, and several women’s advocacy projects in Arizona and Mexico. In 2008, she was awarded a large seed grant to develop an income generation program for women in Ciudad Juarez, and spent a year overseeing the program’s operations, media, and finances.
