Andrea Weddle, MSW is the associate director of the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA) and has been with the association since its inception in 2002. She devotes much of her time to the association’s public policy and advocacy efforts with a focus on improving access to health care for people with HIV/AIDS. Prior to joining HIVMA, she served as a research associate for IDSA’s Center for HIV Quality Care and as the staff director the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society. Ms. Weddle has worked in the health policy field for more than 10 years and has a Master’s in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley.

Mounting evidence in support of harm reduction strategies has not translated to the government support needed in many countries to endorse the widespread adoption of proven HIV and STD prevention tools.
