Alicia Smith Meulensteen has spent the last seven years of her career serving progressive non-profits, working to promote reproductive health, refugee assistance, and international development. She is currently pursuing a Master's in Public Administration at NYU Wagner, specializing in international development, while providing management consulting for small to mid-sized non-governmental organizations. Reducing maternal deaths from unsafe abortion is one of the most straight-forward public health problems to remedy. But this can never be fully realized unless governments start including abortion in realistic approaches to protecting women's health.
