Carnelius
About MeCarnelius Quinn, HIFY Program Manager, is a San Francisco Bay Area native who learned about youth development and asset based health education from the greatest programs in San Francisco. His participation as a youth outreach worker, peer educator, and artist inspired him to pursue a double BA from San Francisco State University in Sociology and Theatre. Since graduating, he has found a home in community-based organizations that believe in giving young people access to information and a voice to share it. He has worked as a counselor in residential treatment settings with Sunny Hills Children’s Garden and St. Vincent’s School for Boys. He used to direct the Exaltation youth choir, and currently dances with Loco Bloco. Before coming to HIFY, Carnelius directed the education theatre troupe – Teens Teaching Through Theatre (T4) in Santa Rosa. He is thrilled to be at Health Initiatives For Youth (HIFY), supporting the development of trainings for both young people and the adult allies who support them. From teaching youth about how to have safe, fun, and consensual sex – to challenging providers to re-think holistically about health, HIFY is a vehicle that gives Carnelius an opportunity to give back to the community that made him who he is.
