This is not the first time a Catholic individual or organization has allowed intolerance to interfere with the Church’s message on loving our (black, gay, poor) neighbors, but it’s particularly embarrassing in this case.

This week, Operation Save America, a violent anti-choice and racist organization, will visit the city of Atlanta with their message of hate. SPARK and SisterSong call on women of color and our allies to stand for justice and say no.

Out of many examples of anti-choicers' deeply cynical willingness to pretend to embrace any cause in the fight against women's rights, the ugliest might be the fake concern for racial equality.

It's not every day that the United States is reprimanded on the international stage for racial discrimination. But one day before International Women's Day, a United Nations committee expressed concern about "wide racial disparities" in sexual and reproductive health in the United States.

The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination has issued its concluding observations on the United States, noting that the U.S. needs to do a better job of reducing racial disparities in sexual and reproductive health.
