- Emergency Contraception
Emergency contraception (also known as EC, emergency birth control or the "morning after pill") is a safe and effective way to prevent pregnancy when taken within 72-120 hours of unprotected intercourse. Plan B is a brand of EC, but certain birth control pills (oral contraceptives) can also be prescribed for use as emergency contraception. EC is not an abortifacient. (PPFA)
