WIC is short for "The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children," and provides supplemental food and counseling for low-income mothers and their children. The food packages usually include basic products like eggs, milk, fruit and baby formula, among others. Expanding the program would help more low-income mothers to get by and comfortably feed their children. With proper financing, the program's efficiency could continue to improve. Fairly recent innovations like the EBT card - a kind of debit card used exclusively for the purchase of WIC items - have already made nutritional support easier and more effective.
