While the full range of motives for two killings and one additional intended murder thwarted by police in Owosso, Michigan last week remain unclear, Randall Terry, who now leads a group he is calling Operation Rescue Insurrecta Nex (see Right-Wing Watch), is planning a press conference to declare James Pouillon a "martyr," and several newspapers and blogs are shaping the story as a "pro-" versus "anti-" choice murder case, without much attention to the other man killed or his intended third victim.

President Obama released a one sentence statement on Sunday on the shootings in Owosso, Michigan. One of the two men killed was a longtime anti-choice advocate.

Harlan Drake, the man who killed anti-choice advocate James Pouillon and gravel pit owner Mike Fuoss in Owosso, Michigan this week attempted suicide while in jail awaiting arraignment, reports the Detroit Free Press.

Anti-abortion activist James Pouillon was shot and killed today. No motive has been determined at this time but RH Reality Check deplores the use of violence as a tool in the debates over women's rights and health and our best wishes for healing go out to Mr. Pouillon's family.

The Flint Journal is reporting that well known Owosso-based anti-abortion activist James Pouillion, 63, has been shot to death in front of Owosso High School. The shooting happened at approximately 7:30 a.m.
