In Uganda, though homosexual acts are already illegal, a new bill would penalize homosexuality with tougher penalties - along the lines of life imprisonment and the death penalty.

Malawi has some of the harshest laws in all of Africa criminalizing homosexuality. Many religious groups actively support discrimination against gay, lesbian, and transgender persons and in turn are fanning the spread of HIV.

Hundreds of people--young and old, men and women, gay, lesbian, transgender and straight--all effected and affected by HIV and AIDS rallied on the Washington Mall Saturday night to call for an end to the epidemic.

Decriminalization of homosexuality by the Delhi High Court gives hope to advocates for equality throughout the globe. Still, much work needs to be done to eradicate discrimination in daily life.

The High Court of Delhi found that Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which criminalized consensual sexual acts of adults in private, violated the Indian Constitution. This ruling decriminalizes homosexuality in India and is being hailed by advocates in India and worldwide as the first step toward equality for gay, lesbian, and transgender persons in that country.
