Over and over and over again people tell me to leave religion out of the debate over abortion. "Many Christians believe in the right to abortion, at least in cases of rape or incest," I am often told, "So, why alienate them by bringing up religion?"

Priests to "Forgive" Women for Having Abortions

Description: 

"World Youth Day" in Madrid, Pope Benedict will forgive women who had abortions rather than excommunicating them from the Catholic church, as is the traditional (read: prejudiced/patriarchal) post-abortion protocol. In order to be "forgiven" for their "sins," women who had abortions will have to confess to having had abortions, admit to having taken an "innocent human life," and appear truly sorry. More here.
