The arrogance of the 350 Bishops of the US Catholic Church is mind-boggling. Though they are facing bankruptcy in many states because of the shameful tradition of priests molesting children, they still have the nerve to claim a right to make moral decisions for women. It is time for the women of America to say no to the bullying of a tiny group of men who will never know what it means to make tough choices about pregnancy; or have a baby; or raise a child; or scramble to care for a family.

In their righteous search to control women’s lives thank GOD Congressmen have the guidance the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the group that has covered for child rapists, pornographers, adulterers and others.

The women I can’t explain. But the men, I totally get.

I believe a new wave of feminism is coming that will be about unfinished business--transformation rather than reform of the very game of life we human beings are playing—-a transformation of gender, ecology, race, fairness, class—-and so much more.

The glee with which male politicians are willing to strip women of their most basic rights is staggering. And it is crushing to recognize that so many smart, caring women will spend their time, precious energy, and scarce resources begging men to please, please harm women just a little bit less.

After nearly 40 years working in the abortion field, I can see that the situation is hopeless. I admit it.  Personhood begins at ejaculation!

I remember from my own clinic years that when a woman came to our front desk crying and shaking I always knew she had been waylaid by the Fake Clinic directly across the hall.

We who are pro-choice have got to change the rhetoric that surrounds issues of reproductive justice and legitimizes the intimidation, harassment, and even murder of providers.  If we can do that we can help civilize the atmosphere of the country as a whole.

Right-wing, Republican and Tea-Party women are scary because they have not developed the courage and independence to step away from the protective shadow of power. What would it take for them to stand up for the rest of us?
