North Dakota Law Restricting Medication Abortion On Hold Until October Hearing

The court hearing has been moved from the end of August until the end of October.

A law that would restrict the use of Misoprostol in very early abortions in North Dakota will continue to be enjoined, as the hearing regarding the constitutionality of the law has been moved back nearly two months.  Should the law be enforced, it would virtually eliminate medication abortion in the state, and thereby eliminate a safe and effective means of early abortion.

A hearing on a North Dakota law regulating drugs used in inducing abortions has been delayed from Aug. 29 to Oct. 26, a move that blocks enforcement of the new law for at least two months longer.

Attorneys will argue at the hearing about whether the temporary restraining order issued by Cass County District Court Judge Wickham Corwin on July 21 will remain in place until a lawsuit challenging the law is resolved.
