North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue has vetoed two new abortion restrictions passed by the legislature; one requiring all women obtain an ultrasound before getting an abortion and one requiring women to wait at least 24 hours before having the procedure.

North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue has vetoed a bill requiring women considering an abortion in the state to get an ultrasound and wait 24 hours after mandated counseling before they could undergo the procedure. The Democratic governor is an abortion-rights supporter and announced her decision on Monday.

Sadly, the victory may be short lived.  Perdue recently vetoed a budget that woould have defunded Planned Parenthood, only to have it overriden by the legislature shortly thereafter.
