Last week, the RHRC family suffered a deep loss when Ali Artzer, younger sister of Brady Swenson, RHRC's New Media Director, died suddenly.  Brady, who truly is the backbone of this site and who is responsible for the redesign among many other things, is of course with his family this past week.  The funeral for Ali will be held today in Topeka, Kansas to celebrate Ali's life.  I wanted to offer the opportunity for the community to share their condolences with Brady.  Below is the obituary for Ali.

Our love, support, and prayers are with the entire Swenson/Artzer families today.

Alexandra Elizabeth Artzer (Ali), born November 21, 1988 died Monday, May 30, 2011. Survived by Dr. Dennis Artzer, father, Nancy Artzer, mother, Patrick Artzer, brother and Blake Swenson and Brady Swenson, brothers.  Ali graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 2007.  She attended the University of Kansas and Washburn University.

On Monday, June 6th, 2011, family and friends will gather at Wannamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 Wanamaker in Topeka. From Noon to 1pm we will have an oppotunity to share in celebration of her life. There will be an open casket viewing during this time. Funeral services will begin at 1pm with graveside services following at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th St.

Memorial donations may be made in two ways.

There are too few resources for those who suffer from Bi-polar and dual-diagnosis disorders in Topeka. Send donations for this cause to the Alexandra Artzer Dual-Diagnosis Support Group Fund care of Core First Bank, 3035 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66611.

Ali spent much of her time growing up at the Topeka Round-Up Club.  She found love and solace with the horses and staff members and became an accomplished equestrian, competing as a hunter-jumper. Send memorial donations to the Topeka Round-Up Club, care of Kathy Childs, 7843 SW 37th St, Topeka, KS 66614.

Brady Swenson Thank you June 8, 2011 - 2:08pm
for the condolences and kind words. It is heartbreaking to lose a loved one at so young an age. Ali's beautiful spirit will live on in our hearts and our families are expecting a little bundle of hope and joy as my wife and I will be welcoming a baby girl into the world any day now to begin the cycle of life anew. Thanks again to the RHRC community, especially those who commented here, your continued commitment to these important issues, and our work, keeps us going. Brady

I'm very sorry for your loss, Brady.

Good luck on your new baby girl and I hope she will help fill the loss in your heart.  Janet and I have a wonderful daughter who is grown and teaching math and she has been a joy to us.  I hope your daughter will be as great a joy to you and that the emotional richness of life will sustain you in your time of great loss and new hope.
