Republican Nat’l Committee Spends $2K at Bondage-themed Topless Strip Club

Finance documents show that the Republican National Committee spent nearly $2,000 last month at "a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex."

Put your coffee on your desk and sit down.

Andrew Golis of Yahoo’s The NewsRoom reports that finance documents show that the Republican National Committee spent nearly $2,000 last month at “a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.”

Same folks who paid for Sarah Palin’s RNC-financed $150,000 shopping spree.

Boys just havin’ fun?

For the record, though I’ve said it many times, I don’t care through what means consenting adults–male, female, gay, lesbian, transgender–fulfill their sex lives (it’s not my business), and there is a valid debate to be had about why women might have to rely on employment in a strip club to support themselves and their dependents.

But this is beside the point regarding these revelations. Because of course the RNC finances those campaigns that rail against same-sex marriage, gay and lesbian adoptions, the sale of contraception, women’s rights to choose whether to bear a child, and many other freedoms of people “not like them” (whatever that actually means).  This is the Republican National Committee, that group of folks who spent a year inflaming the abortion debate in health reform because of “moral” objections and who have poilticized efforts to rescind Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

As just a few examples.

But in the “do as I say, not as I do,” category, you can earn a doctorate in hypocrisy just by watching these folks.

An examination of RNC expenditures by the conservative website, The Daily Caller, offers examples of other uses of RNC funds that some might find enlightening.

For example, according to the Daily Caller:

RNC Chair Michael spent $17,514 chartering private aircraft in the month of February alone (as well as $12,691 on limousines during the same period). [There are no readily identifiable private plane expenses for Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine in the DNC’s last three months of filings.]

The RNC explains that Steele charters jets only when commercial service is unavailable, or when his tight schedule requires it. “Anytime the chairman has taken any private travel has been a either to a route that doesn’t exist or because of connections and multiple travel to where he just wasn’t able to do so,” Heye said. Yet Steele’s office repeatedly refused to explain in specific terms the circumstances of the February charter flights.

A February RNC trip to California included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.

RNC trips to other cities produced bills from a long list of chic and costly hotels such as the Venetian and the M Resort in Las Vegas, and the W (for a total of $19,443) in Washington. A midwinter trip to Hawaii cost the RNC $43,828, not including airfare.
