Bill is Back, This Time on Abortion

Former President Bill Clinton, campaigning for his wife Sen. Hillary Clinton in Steubenville, OH, lashed out at anti-choice hecklers holding up signs, saying,

We disagree, you want to penalize women and their doctors ... I reduced abortion ... Tell the truth, if you were really pro-life you would want to put every doctor and every mother, as an accessory to murder, in prison and you won't say you want to do that because you wouldn't have a lick of political support ... You can't name me anybody presently in politics that did more to introduce policies that reduced the number of real abortions instead of the hot air you're putting out to tear people up ...

Pro-choice voters, regardless of party, can easily applaud former President Clinton's strong response reminding Americans who the real extremists are in the debate over abortion. As he once again inserts himself and his record into the presidential campaign between Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama, at least this time he's aiming his anger in the right direction.

Thank you for throwing your fire in the right direction. Can you keep it up, Bill? I'm liking you again

Clearly bill does not understand the intentions of true pro-lifers at all. He should probably educate himself a little more before lashing out and embarrassing both himself and his wife.

include reducing the abortion rate through making birth control and sex education more accessible, in the which case many "pro-life" organizations are not serving pro-life intentions.

Many of us find Bill Clinton's energy on these issues more self-serving--ostensibly serving the presidential aspirations of Hillary Clinton--than anything else. Let him speak out about Choice in other forums if this is an issue he is proud to support.

I would expect Obama to do it, too. But he's been really mellow towards the anti-choicers who protest him. Not everything is a calculation. Clinton is apparently not unknown for his temper.
